Reflecting on My Digital Identity

Reflecting on My Digital Identity

Google Myself

By searching my name from Google, the search browser, I can't find any relevant page or website about me. As many of us know, Google is an Internet browser, that's mean, if your identity is not published online by whoever that is, Google will not show any sign of having you in the Internet world. However, some may ask, why all the public figures or influencers  can be search online? The answer to this question is, even if they did not publish themselves on the Internet, their fans will. I'm just any ordinary man, living in this world, I'm not popular on the Internet, thus this is the reason why I can't find any relevant page or website about me. For myself, I prefer moderate hits, as too many hits can be annoying. For example, being known in public, asking for photographs, etc. However, having too little or none hits on the Internet about me, life can be boring. By having moderate amount of hits online can help to increase the possibility of having better opportunities in future such as working or businesses opportunity. Furthermore, by having just moderate amount of hits online, can let more people know about you, your  lifestyles and many more. To me, sharing lifestyle and personality online can help to clear the gossips about you. In other hand, if I have plenty hits online, I think it might be an opportunity to be a public figure and try to earn some earning from this field. Meanwhile, having lots of hits on Google can help to increase business selling and profit if I am a businessmen. But, having too many hits on Google can turn us to possible target for robbers and theft, as many of the public figure had an enormous amount of earnings. On the same aspect, this might ruin our lifestyle as many will recognize me and troubleshoot my life. But, in other way, I think that this will help me to get a better job in future as the Internet act as a very huge social location for all types of business and entertainment.

Facebook

I had a Facebook account. From a third party, they can view all my information such as my friends profile, my job, bio and many more. The photos in my profile are visible and my interest are also visible for the public. The only information that I feel uncomfortable with is the visibility of my contact number. If any of my so called "fans" get hands on on my number, they might harass me through calling and messaging, this can also bring to possible scam calls. I might be happy if my employer saw my profile timeline, as they can know better what kind a person am I, and my lifestyles, so that he would know how to bring out the best of me.

Privacy Settings & Tidying Up

My Facebook account is a public account, and I am willingly happy that everyone could see my timeline. It is because, they can see what I share, either is for entertainment purpose or raising awareness purpose. If it was for awareness purpose, I hope I can help to raise awareness to the world and make the world a better one.

If it was a friends of friends privacy type, the implication of posting to large number of people group is too only share what I think was important and needed to be share out to everyone.

I think the person who could search me up is person who may know me or friends of friends. The person who potentially may saw my timeline might be my friends and those who know me but  I don't.

The number of apps that I grant access to have some of my data information is 5 apps, and I remember authorizing all. In addition, I trust these apps to have my data responsibly. As most of the app I grant access to are apps that are widely use by public, thus I believe these apps will not steal our information for illegal use purpose. If one of these applications being brought by other company, I might have to denied access, as I did not know that company well and they might mean another purpose of buying over the application. I may not remove the apps that I had grant access to, as in the time ahead, I might need to use it again.
